The old brick-arched bridge is deemed insufficiently
strong to risk leaving as is, so a 600-ml twin-wall pipe is laid through
it. The blockwork is recessed to allow space for stonework to be built
around the pipe end and on up to form a new bridge parapet. 31/1/06 |

Two days later, the new pipe end is embedded in concrete,
the new stone bridge wall is taking shape in the blockwork recess... 2/2/06 |

...a temporary tarmac roadway has been laid across part of
the new concreted-in culvert, and the stream is now being pumped under the
