The end is in sight - literally. The new pipe has reached
its destination. It just remains to construct a series of walls while the
western stream water is pumped around the work. 13/3/06 |

The new pipe is embedded in concrete, as it has been all
along its path, but here in the garden the concrete had to be shifted from
the readymix lorry to the point of use by using a powerbarrow, here being
lifted out of the trench, its work complete. 13/3/06 The men dug out quite a bit of stone rubble in this section of the trench, quite possibly remains of the old cottages known as "Fleas Alley" that pre-dated St Clements Terrace (built 1904), shown at centre right in this section of the 1842 Tithe Map. (Wesley Place is the long building on the left.) |
